Author Topic: Custom Maps  (Read 11942 times)

break your computer over some terrain??
dude you need to get off the computer and take a walk or something
Its because i might install the wrong files, and break blockland.
And make a frikin black hole.
For breaking the laws of blockland.

Well, you see,
You can still have "Custom maps" by using  inefficient static shapes like I once did
I know i might sound stupid, but what are inefficient static shapes?
And how do you use them?

Static shapes are a type of object made from DTS models. They're inefficient because they have little to no optimization that can/has been done on them. Very old versions of Blockland used static shapes for bricks, and lag would begin at a fairly low number (i think it was just a thousand or so) depending on your computer, and with retail's fxDTSBricks, the lowest I've ever seen complaining start was at around 10,000, and the limit is 256,000.

Again:
For simple structures, you probably won't experience too many issues. But staticshapes shouldn't be used for making an accurate recreation of something like GSF Vice City or maybe even Bedroom, depending on your computer. There's a reason we don't use them for bricks anymore.

Again:
But how do i get them in the game, and how do i edit them.
Sorry, im a good mod maker for other games i like fallout NV and Fallout 3, but im not so good at blockland.
If you could, i would like a tutorial on how to make static shapes, get them, and place them.
In return, i will post a bunch of support_map maps.
EDIT:
Sorry for being pretty stupid and not really understanding.

But how do i get them in the game, and how do i edit them.
Look, search around and find Port's V20 client, it will allow you to host and join game "in" V20.
It wont let you join V21 games, but you can wallow in lonley nostalgia all you want, but we are going to move on.

I need some help creating shapes, can someone guide me?

Do you know how to code?

Well, im good at Fallout 3 and NV mod making. Weapons and houses.
I'm not good at coding for blockland, i dont even know what coding is like. I have never made a Blockland mod.
So, no, i dont know how to code.
But i did place objects and move them around using the editor...
So, that means i need a guide, of course.

If you want to use static shapes, don't be a subpixel.

You were able to load in custom terrain, find an awesome hill and build a radio tower, fort, heli landing pad, You pick it.
