Win 8 confuses me
if anything it's simpler than windows 7 lol

Does it have to be Nvidia?

This one is pretty good. You can customize it too.

You're probably not going to find retail windows 7 laptops anymore. Microsoft is trying hard to push windows 8. If you got a used laptop off craigslist or ebay, maybe.

how

I don't know where to click i just see a lot of colorful squares

Yeah this is true, it looks like they actually attempted to make Windows 8 idiot proof by making it really obvious to use with it's interface because many people bitches that Windows 7 was confusing for some reason.

It has an actual desktop, that doesn't have the squares btw. Check up on it because I don't think you've seen it fully. That squares desktop is the metro desktop, like I've said, the idiot proofed version of the actual desktop.

are you like some grandma who just sat down in front of a computer for the first time?

If you played around with windows 8 for more than 2 seconds you'd know you can right-click apps to unpin or uninstall.

Either getting this or customizing my desktop

http://www.startisback.com

Puts the start button back, and it's an actual start button. Idk how it works but I think it edits some registries to make itself an actual part of the OS, who cares, it works.

yes it's not free but there's a trial. it's only $3 dollars for 2 licenses though.
-it disables the corner gestures. especially that annoying one in the top right corner when you try to exit an application by the X button.
-always boots to this real desktop and not the squares desktop
-the start button actually functions like the real windows 7 start button.
-you can change the start button icon
-you can disable those metro apps like the music player and other stuff which are the idiot proofed versions of the real ones.
-you can also customize the whole menu in other ways too.

Looks normal to me.

Although I feel like windows 8 is only useful on stuff like the windows surface tablet and other touch-screen laptops, if it's the only decent option then you should really accept it and check out these workarounds as posted above.

I haven't had many great experiences with HP in my life, but that laptop doesn't look too bad.
