Same goes for a few other channels too.

They used to have actual documentarys, hell they'd just have a weekend where they gave each roman emporer an hour long program. Now it's people chopping down trees and driving trucks.

also, there was a show called 'the most' it had mike roe and was nice

i think i read somewhere that the execs realize how god awful their programming is, but they need the ratings to sustain profit so they have to show stuffty reality shows like pawn stars, and actual educational programming wasn't as popular.

it may appear to you that real educational programs are popular but no really they don't rake in as much money as stuffty shows do.

History Channell...

Riddler,
ALIENS,
AND REDNECKS

The only good "history" channel left is the Military channel.

Remember when MTV had music?

I like history but only certain periods of time and cultures in history interested me. The History Channel had to get more viewers somehow. It should be renamed to "The Educational Channel".

Long since given up on those channels. History is interesting. Some morons who don't deserve a show being followed by cameras, cut off at the most annoying points to create a false sense of suspense isn't. I liked the war stuff, history on events, etc. Now it's just not there.

if the history channel did anything history related at this point the time when they did normal history hows would  be a good candidate.
seriously amish loving mafia what the stuff

the number of "pepperidge farm remembers" on this topic is absurd.

The only good "history" channel left is the Military channel.
The only reason for that is because the History Channel used to practically just show WW2 and occasionally WW1 programmes and it had the nickname of the 'Riddler/national socialist Channel'.
They got lots of complaints because anyone interested in non-WorldWar documentaries had very few places to see those, and History didn't show them as much.
So, they created Military History and stuck all the war programmes on there, which they have thousands of. Then they were left with The History Channel.
And it turns out that it is much cheaper to make 'reality documentaries' than History ones, and they also get more views. They're cheap and make lots of money.

And its so good that its copied by other channels too. Dave, a UKTV channel which used to just show BBC repeats now makes its own 'reality documentaries'.

My favourite documentary channel which is entirely untouched from 'reality documentaries' is Eden, which is a channel run by UKTV and shows nature documentaries. But UKTV doesn't make loads if money, so it just buys and shows old documentaries from other bigger channels, like BBC, ITV or Channel 4. So unfortunately, the only good places here to watch proper documentaries doesn't make its own. And its poor enough that it resorts to switching to Teleshopping at night, so you can't find a nice documentary to watch in bed.
