By having a soundcard do you mean you have a second one? Because every motherboard comes with a soundcard pretty much. Add on sound cards are also pretty much a huge waste of money. But I like my headsets to have USB so I can have them separate from the normal sound. I would recommend buying a small usb sound card if you don't already have 2 sound cards.

I have a POD UX1. It's pretty much an external sound card. Apparently this headset needs to be driven. Needs a boost.

If you have a headset like this, then the money spent on a dedicated sound card is money well spent. It really makes a difference.
