looking to replace my current car sometime in the future, preferably before winter and with a coupe but we'll see

far left is my current car; the 24 valve model. I'm leaning towards the RSX because it's an Acura/Honda, has great mpg and has the most potential to look sick af imho. I WANT an S-type but compared to the base model idk how much that would jack up my already super high michigan auto insurance payments

^kinda what I'm looking to do
Halo headlights, bronze 18" wheels, a mugen-style spoiler to replace the ugly stock jdm wing, and possibly down the road lower it if i ever get the cash and knowledge to do such a thing lol

My sister drives an RSX base. She's had it over ten years without any major problems. It's got a good feel to drive. The rear seats are really small though (not GT-R status, but still small) so I wouldn't buy it if you'll commonly be needing to drive more than one person with you. The trunk is spacious so that's a plus. It's got a surprising amount of get-up-and-go for its little 4-banger, I assume the Type S is even more impressive. Downsides include FWD and the awful spoiler on the Type S.

Also trying to keep black cars clean lol.

Where do you live, Zloff? I haven't seen a Celica like that in my area in years lol. We have one RSX roaming around that I've actually driven since I'm a lube tech, and at 160k it still seemed pretty nice. I'd probably steer away from a Cobalt but to each their own. They seem to be pieces of stuff from my experiences, but I've only ever dealt with the little Ecotec motors in them which are stuffty imo to begin with.

But yeah, RSXs are cool.

Small rural town in Michigan called Hudsonville. Aren't many Celicas here either, but I spend a lot of my time in Grand Rapids and Grand Haven where they're fairly popular. I've put 40 spirited miles on a base auto-trans Celica and it made up for its lack in power with surprisingly good handling, so I figure the GTS would be great fun to drive.

As for Cobalts, I've recently test driven one and talked to many people who have experience with them; the only reason they're still a real option for me is because of how easy it is to find turbo and supercharged models and spare parts for when they do break lol

No arguments on the spoiler. Where I live RSXs are very rare, but from what I've heard their reliability keeps them going past 200k easily, as with most Acuras apparently

I definitely would.

There were some neighbors who lived near me in a house I lived in from 2006-09 who had one of those.

Also FINALLY got the brakes finished on my car yesterday. We (my dad and I) took the wheels off and were working on it but we couldn't push the brake pistons back because the caliper was fastened to a gigantic bracket and we couldn't figure out how to get them off. My dad went and got a brake caliper tool set for $65 at AutoZone (returnable, which we already did). When we went to try and use it, we found out that we couldn't get the brace into the caliper's bracket. It was only then that we found out that the caliper was attached to the bracket by a single screw and flipped open and off by a pin. After that, getting them on was a breeze. The new rotors are so shiny.

I have to be back at the inspection station in 20 minutes so I'll let you guys know what happens.
