Oh and I forgot to tell the forums about how XR already broke his police car.
Was driving kinda fast on the interstate around 11:00pm and as I was passing cars approaching my exit, I started seeing smoke blowing around in their headlights. Confused, but initially not worried, I thought the car was just letting off a lot of exhaust. That is, until the engine started clunking and the Check Engine Light turned on, followed by the Engine Temperature light and the car started drastically slowing down. A stifling heat started filling the cabin and the air conditioner stopped working. I immediately started thinking, "No no no no what did I do ohhhhhhhh no". The car rolled to a stop at the top of the interstate exit and I kept trying to give it a little more gas to move somewhere safer. I couldn't manage more than 10mph so I fuddled along the shoulder and rolled into a 7/11 right at the top of the overpass. I stopped the car in the lot, shut off the engine, and smoke just started pouring from the cracks in the hood and body panels. I cracked the hood and walked around the car to make sure it wasn't on fire, and then sat back in the car waiting for the smoke to stop before fully opening the hood.
Being 27 miles from home in a not-so-safe town with recent shootings at night was a little unnerving, but also kinda cool. Some shady druggie approached me asking questions while smoking a cigarette but I managed to get him to leave. I called my dad to have him come save me, which he was less than thrilled about since I pulled him out of bed to make the 54 mile round trip. Bringing coolant, we tried putting some more in the reservoir but it just dumped out the bottom of the car near the back of the engine, so we figured that I blew a radiator hose. Didn't get home until 2AM that night.
I left the car in the 7/11 lot overnight and organized a tow truck to come deal with it. Had it taken to a shop about 15 miles away where it was repaired this morning.
