I've heard that rotary engines can be difficult to work with. I've found some RX-7s for sale near here but my dad has watched people trying to work on them back when he was a car salesman. He saw that it was usually pretty time consuming and awkward to work with.

They are awesome cars though, so as long as you know what you're doing, that's cool.
I was considering an LSX swap for this exact reason, but thats an extra 12k we dont want to spend.

i'll be willing to learn. Plus its a brand new motor and transmission so im pretty sure I wont have as many problems as if I had bought the stuffty drift car.

plus theres a mechanic in our area who specializes in Mazdas, so if anything we could go to him.

so after about 10 months from my dad saying he'd help me get a car for my 16th bday he tells me he doesn't have the money to buy me a used car

...but then goes out and buys his girlfriend a (used) mercedes benz suv

i get it's his money but i'm still super pissed because he claimed he didn't have the money (to buy a car under $5k) but then buys one well over $30k for his girlfriend
Well maybe if you were loving him...

i seriously cannot be more excited, i won't shut the forget up about this build to my friends and now they hate me lmao

im gonna get a semi-sporty car and supercharge it :cookie:

I am so happy guys.

my dad is helping me build a 1993 RX7. The shell (full interior intact and everything but a motor and transmission) is 5000. transmission is 2k, Motor is 3k, new brakes (my mom didn't want me to own a car this fast unless it had bitching brakes, so im getting Brembo GTs) 1k, in total to build around 12k-ish.

A used one on craigslist (abused drift car) is 25k.

The transmission is BRAND NEW and the engine is rebuilt with ALL NEW PARTS and I AM SO EXCITED I AM loving CAPITALIZING EVERYTHING.
Normally I would do the "hey he does what he wants its his money" but then pulls that mercedes bullstuff. I would be so loving mad.
good to see you again skate.  Also good luck with the rx7

thank you!

I'll keep you guys posted. We start ordering parts and all that when my dad gets back in the country.

Good luck, post some pics too if you can cuz dat stuff gon be fabulous

because i can't stop thinking about it, here are pictures of the shell

interior fully intact and all that

im going to be installing a stereo in the trunk like so

also getting a fake license plate (they're legal in florida). it won't be all that much of a waste drilling holes in the front of the car, when I eventually move out of state im going to need a front plate.

The car is wingless, but I might eventually drop a stock one on it.

EDIT:

i want the interior to have a flair that makes it different, so i'll be doing this.

No collector. The guy was desperate for money. Listed it for $1200 when I got there he wanted $900 but I got him to $800.

No club just "upgrading" from my 1982 Honda CM250 to this 1980 Suzuki GS750
