On Tuesday my brakes failed. Driving my brother to work and I slow down to take a right turn and the pedal just goes right to the floor. Would've hit the Buick in front of me if I didn't have the presence of mind to yank the e brake, still came close though, could hear the screech of my tires. Drove to the next parking lot and had my brother call my folks to drive him the rest of the way and then pick me up (of course my car goes kaput the one time I don't have my phone on me). Rear driver wheel area leaked brake fluid badly, brake fluid level down to minimum levels in seconds (I keep a thing of brake fluid in the trunk, refilled the reservoir, and pushed the brakes and it all drained away; no abs on my car, I'm told with abs it would cut the flow to the blown line). Had Triple A tow it to my buddy's house where the brake lines are being replaced and other maintenance is being done including figuring out why it's taking so long to start up (something to do with pressure in the fuel lines I think). Interestingly enough, the last time the brake lines were done, before I owned the vehicle, the old ones were just severed and left in.
So yeah, that disastertastrophe happened the day before school started back up, so yesterday and tomorrow I'm depending on the goodwill of my folks and maybe an old high school buddy of mine to get to and from school. When it rains, it pours.
