Eh my brake lines in my Buick are pretty much shot. They're getting so close to rusting through and it'll really suck if they do. I'm looking around for replacement estimates since I'm not going to do it myself, and while they're getting fixed I also plan on getting my crankshaft position sensor replaced, my throttle position sensor tested, and my A/C pulley looked at. I'm curious as to what you're paying to have your lines replaced now including labor.

Also I saw an absolutely freaking lovey yellow/black C7 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 package I almost wet myself when it passed within three feet of my driver side door. I also saw a blue w/ white stripes Viper GTS at a stoplight while I was wiping tables at work.

why
Those are so atrocious.
First one is OK but the rest are abominations.
Hmm, I guess you guys aren't big fans. I only like the BRZ and the third one. I do agree that the Viper and GTR don't look right

Ha, who reads that stuff anyway?

$50 all told; twenty for parts, thirty for labor.  Bear in mind that this is a buddy of mine doing the work and he cuts me a pretty sizable break; getting it done in an actual shop will probably cost two or three times that (cause my guy charges by the job not by the hour) but get done several times more quickly and be guaranteed and all that fun stuff.

It's looking like I could get just the lines done for $200 which is incredibly low compared to a lot of places. Just browsing around I was finding some shops that would charge as much as $650 (srsly tho).

Today my car was getting antsy and trying to die on the streets again. I also learned that not only does it lose stability in a parked idle, but also when idling in drive. I stopped through a Taco Bell drive thru and there were maybe 4 cars ahead of me. The woman directly in front of me was in an old Mazda Protege and kept turning her engine off whenever cars weren't moving. I was idling in drive (brakes applied of course) for the entire time. I was in that general position for 8-10 minutes. I pulled out of the restaurant and stopped to turn left at a stoplight on the road and the engine started stumbling around between 400 and 750rpm. It was trying so hard to die but the idle would briefly kick on which would rev the engine, so I depressed the accelerator while I sat at the stoplight to hold the engine at 1000rpm. The light turned green so I just released the brake and kept the gas slightly down, and it seemed that the idiot woman driving the Lincoln Navigator in front of me was fully aware of my problem just because she was driving so horrendously slow. I was riding just 12-18 inches off of her bumper trying not to let off the gas while she just crawled at slug pace around the corner. As soon as I got straightened out on a highway ramp, I pushed the gas hard and zipped around her. She got pissed and started going 70 compared to my 65 and began coming up along my right side even though the ramp narrowed down to a single lane before merging onto the highway. I briefly gave more gas to quickly escape her reach and she slowed to under the speed limit as soon as she got on the highway.

I also saw another C7 Corvette and another Viper today.

seriously XR, you can get a car that will be MUCH more reliable for a lot less than youll pay to get that one to a stable state just use whatever money you can get for it probs 1000$ you said your parents don't want to get rid of it so you can pass it on or something, but you can pass on a different car too, if its causing you such inconvienience that it makes you late for work/school its time to axe it

I'd be totally fine with getting a different car, however:

1. It is very time consuming to find someone selling a car that they claim is cheap and reliable, and I'm quite certain that I'll just end up on a wild goose chase all over the surrounding counties.

2. I really don't like tapping into my savings account since it is mainly used to pay back school loans, car maintenance, and necessities.

3. The repairs needed for my car are only uncertain. Out of everything that should be needed to make it reliable...heck, even reliable + comfortable + less rust + extras shouldn't even come out totaling $1000. Granted there are a lot of things and most of those things are a total pain to deal with, but I'd rather suffer some inconveniences than pay a lot more money only to perhaps trade for a different set of inconveniences.

4. Most of all, I don't want to have the first car that I buy with my own money get passed down to siblings. I want it to be a car that I can take care of and keep until I decide that I'm done with it.

Dodge vipers are loving HOT

Also forgot to say that I found a car dealership not far from my campus. I was browsing their used inventory a couple days ago and saw that they had a black C5 Corvette convertible for sale, so I decided to go over and look at it. It was at their Ford dealership and basically what happened was that I went over there and saw their big Ford sign. On the other side of the street was their Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealer. When I pulled in the lot though, there were barely any cars and the lot was tiny. There were new vehicles, but only like 25 with most being F-series trucks. I drove around the building and couldn't find the Corvette. There was a nice Jaguar XJ6 but I couldn't tell if it was used inventory a customer car. I left without finding it.

Today I went back over there and was looking around in the CDJR lot. Across the lot I saw a bunch of new Mustangs, which struck me as odd. I drove over to them only to realize that the Ford dealer was actually connected to the CDJR dealer, same lot and everything. The lot I'd been in was apparently just used for inventory overflow and extra repair garage space. As soon as I came around the building, I saw the Corvette sitting up on the sidewalk. It's a manual trans with black leather interior and in great condition. I don't really want a convertible though. I saw an orange C5 convertible in the showroom but I decided against going inside because I didn't want to leave my car idling or turn it off. Plus, of course, there were salesmen.

They apparently schedule test drives online so I wonder if I could get anything from that.
