Oh I don't think I posted this here, but I'm taking my car to a private mechanic tomorrow who offered to investigate my bad idle for absolutely no charge. He's likely not gonna fix anything, but just having him look for and diagnose the problem would be simply amazing, and if he doesn't find the problem, it won't hurt me.
I first went south to the same dealership where I applied for a porter job and talked to a guy in the service garage for like 15 minutes. Although they do things such as maintenance and little repairs on other cars besides Ford and Chrysler group cars, he was getting more and more doubtful that he'd be able to locate the source of the problem since I have a GM car. At that point, he said I should try the Chevrolet dealer that's about 10 miles away near the Mississippi River, but then he remembered that he had a friend who lived off the road that I'd just come from who was very good at engine and powertrain issues and recommended him.
When I got there, I found a perfectly beautiful Buick Grand National in the garage with the hood popped, so I walked around looking at it. When the guy got rid of the annoying customers who kept whining about their Cadillac, he came and looked at my car and I told him my whole sob story about the guys who looked at my car, didn't find the problem, and charged me $150. I guess he was sympathetic about it, because he told me to drop by anytime this week and leave the car with him for several hours and he'd take a look at it and try to find the problem for no charge.
Me very happy.
