Author Topic: Why do I hate coders???  (Read 9818 times)

I dislike a lot of them because of the way they act

Just want to know... Am I one of the self-centered or helpful (well, not necessarily helpful a bunch) coders?

I think it's probably OP's bad experience with the boasty coders that makes him react this way.

I really wanna be able to make add-ons for Blockland someday.

My suggestion is that you get started ASAP. The sooner you can learn something, the better.

You code?

I've been meaning too but when I look at add-ons in Blockland, even default to learn something, I get intimidated, lose all my motivation,  and go cry in a corner

I didn't even know you coded.

Yes, I've made a few addons. Also helping TBD with his SCP server.

I was like that too at first, in a way. That first step is the biggest. Once you can learn the basics, though, (most of) the rest is just the icing on the cake.
I didn't even know you coded.

i watched some tutorials on torquescript a while ago and i was able to make something completely useless (forgot what it was) but then i forgot everything i had learned because i couldn't think of anything to make to practice

it might have something to do with how all bl coders make nothing but crap, and pat themselves on the back like they are god's gift to blockland.

I can't code that well, pretty new to it

A lot of coders have giant egos, and always think the are better than the other people. it is one of the reasons new players have a hard time fitting into the community, the second a person steps out of line of the mutual agreement of forum conduct, it is usually the coders that bash the player because they are more active and believe they are superior

Everyone who thinks it is jelousy is probably jelous but the reason is wrong

I've always disliked a certain person here because they seemed so roostery and self centered when it came to coding, but I've recently noticed that any time I see pretty much anyone on here who codes I have some kind of negative reaction in my head.

I'm not really sure why, does anybody have some sort of psychiatric explanation? I'm pretty sure I'm not jealous or anything, I mean sure I guess it would be cool to know how to code but I don't even really want to a whole lot.

People get excited when they learn to print to the console in Torquescript and end up acting like they solved world hunger.  Many other people on the forums have dabbled in programming, and others actually know how to do it.  Sadly aprox. 50% of those people grow a giant ego from it, and enjoy bragging about the fact.

Perfectly reasonable. Coders admittedly tend to be a little showoffy about their projects and such, since programming isn't exactly a common skill to have.

lol

true. My friend Mr. Doom was a lot like this, but he grew out of it.
Heck, even I thought I was hot stuff at modeling.

The people who act roostery about their coding or modeling abilities are just immature. Nothing much more to it.
