I've played that, but it's big voxels, just like Minecraft.

You can do this in Starforge.  It's can be changed between first and third person I think.

Quite honestly it's not worth it right now. It's kinda meh, it's in alpha though so I fully expect it to get way better and the devs try to keep the community updated on everything they do.

I read that it had a ton of skills and such.

It doesn't have skills yet, that's what I'm saying. Their plans are to have a full rpg style system to it but right now it's lacking those features.
