Why clear your bricks before leaving?

This is just something I've kind of always wondered. In Fort Wars, Freebuilds, and other kinds of server, I keep seeing people put quite a bit of effort into a build of some sort only to clear their own bricks and then leave. Why do people do this?

Is it because people are afraid their work will be saved and stolen? And if they're just going to clear their bricks anyways, why not just build in single player? It just doesn't make sense to me to contribute to a server or build and then just delete it all and leave, and I've never really remembered to ask anybody about it until recently.

In fort wars if there's lots of abandoned bases, it becomes hard to find any real bases and it looks really spammy

I clear mine to leave more space for other players only if I know I'm not going to come back soon

The build will eventually get lost anyway unless the builder saves it, unless the host saves before shutting down.

I only clear my bricks if I dislike what I built.

Which is quite often.

Yeah, that's when I think it's pointless. If you were to just build something small and unfinished, had to go, and dislike the build you made, doesn't it seem logical to get rid of it?

It's a polite thing to do if you know your build isn't worth keeping around.

I only clear mine if I'm not happy with what I built. Or if I feel I don't want the build hanging around on the server.

Then why build it on a public server, and not in single player?

Its like going to a gas-station to use the restroom. You buy something to be polite. When you go to a free-build server you don't just look around. You build something so your not one of those people who comes in and just leave. If you wonder whats wrong with that its at some period it became taboo to just enter a server only to leave once you spawn because people didn't know (or you possibly couldn't leave during loading in till a later update?) what, who, ect; was their. Or you just clicked the wrong server.
