Author Topic: SpeedKart Revolution - Calling all map makers!  (Read 4666 times)

I need closure. I need a map. That's where you come in.
I need a map (or several) designed for SpeedKart Revolution. Can be based off of something, or can be completely original (Original map has better chance of being signature map). If you want to build a map, here are some specifications and measurements to make sure your map is compatible.
General Specifications:
Mandatory
  • Map MUST loop
  • Cart spawn booths MUST somehow let carts enter the track and cross the starting line
  • AT LEAST 3 Powerup boxes
  • AT LEAST 2 Checkpoints
  • AT LEAST 1 Start point
Optional
(Bonus karma!)
  • Forks in the road
  • Pitfalls
Other
  • Signature map will determine color set.
Checkpoints:
Measurements
  • Each checkpoint is 2x32 in size. This is to ensure enough space for things to cross through
  • Each checkpoint reaches upwards by 31 plates (10 1x1s tall, 1 plate). This means the brick can be buried under something and still count as a checkpoint. Does not have to be visible
Mandatory
  • Each checkpoint should be substituted in place (Fill the gap) with green glowing bricks
  • Each checkpoint should be numbered. Add a plate displaying number. If buried, add a red sign displaying number.
  • Any bricks placed above to represent the checkpoint must accurately display how big the checkpoint is.
Powerup Boxes:
Measurements
  • Original is roughly a 4x4 cube.
  • Clipping into walls is allowed, but not advised
  • Item boxes spawn ON TOP of bricks
Mandatory
  • Yellow Glowing brick representing placement of item boxes
  • Item boxes must be reachable (Drive to, jump to, etc)
Optional
  • Make own custom item box model (Size may vary)

We'll be waiting.

I'm working on a new Speedkart concept, but it'll take awhile with my lack of patience and help.  There will be track meant to have counting laps.  The karts start in a grid-style start (five rows of four, for a 20 player max) and wait on a countdown.  If a player crashes and dies, they respawn in an elevated spectating room in the scenery (like bleachers for spectators at a normal racetrack) and can mill around and watch the race from inside (maybe throw in a few time killers, like arcade machines).  When the race resets, like at a falling tiles arena or something.  A room opens up with buttons to choose your kart/color, and you hit a spawn button.  You spawn in the grid start and wait for the light to go green, and the process repeats.

The tracks that I started are Gran Turismo based, like Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring, etc, but I don't have much patience for building anything.

Contact Wink. He made a track made specifically for this gamemode. Took him months to make it.

Awesome idea!

I suck at building qq

Dead again? Seriouusly?

So
Can I just make an oval or does it have to be complex?

base it off of a mario kart track, most of them are pretty balanced
