A long time ago I used to live in a stuffty house that had extremely old and thin windows, getting them replaced was just not an option because my family didn't have the money. And in the winter time it just got so loving cold, we had space heaters running constantly which mowed through a ton of energy, about ten minutes after turning them off all the warm air would escape. So I had improvised insulation by hanging blankets over the windows with tacks, it worked pretty well.
My room had two windows, one was right next to my bed, and occasionally the blanket would fall down because I was fidgeting with it. It was easy to hang it back up but sometimes a tack or two would go missing and I paid the ultimate price for ignoring the fallen tacks. To make a long story short, I got pwned when lying in bed one night because a thumb tack found it's way to my rooster head, it poked deep and it was probably the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.
