Author Topic: Favorite Controller?  (Read 1892 times)

Fairly simple, what is your favorite controller of all time for consoles? I'm not including keyboard and mouse here because it's kind of a given it will win the votes on a PC game forum.

Personally, I prefer the GCN controller. The face buttons are actually really accessible, the sticks, triggers, and D-Pad were all high quality, and the controller was very comfortable. The only issue is the Z button, which is kind of hard to push but isn't all that bad.

I prefer the Xbox 360 controller.
because i have tiny stubby fingers

xbox 360 controller. I never liked the Gamecube controller. The C stick and D-pad seemed like they were tacked on and don't feel natural.

I'm probably going to like the Steambox controller when it comes out.

Xbox 360 controller's great but the D-Pad is really stuffty and the controller feels a bit too heavy. I actually prefer the GCN's "weird" face buttons. I agree that the C-stick was not very accessible, though.

The gamecube controller is literally the most comfortable controller ever made. Except I do agree with beachbum on the C stick and D-pad, though that pretty much applies for any controller that has a D-pad.

Otherwise, the controller feels like it was made to fit perfectly in my hand, and the buttons' positions, colors and shapes make them easily recognizable and usable without much thought, unlike other modern controller designs which put the buttons in a diamond.

i grew up on dualshock and nothing comes close for me

I completely agree with how stuffty the xbox 360s D-pad is.

If I made a controller nowadays, it would literally be a GCN controller but with ZL and ZR or something instead of the single Z that work better, a select button, and both sticks are the same but clickable. You could probably fir more buttons onto the face because the design frees up some directions, like between B and Y could be a round button like B and under A could be another arch-shaped button, like X and Y. The GCN controller design has a lot of unused potential, sadly.

I used to really like the Dualshock but then I got used to the Wii U controller (which, as bulky as it is, is really comfortable and good too) and when I came back to DS it felt like stuff because the brown townog sticks are too big and slippery, and the back triggers always go off if you set the controller down.

Ive always liked the GameCube controller. Comfortable as stuff

Why would you lump SMBS with NES? They're completely different.
And Sega controller? What the hell.

They're both older and are pretty similar, actually. D-Pad on the left, buttons on the right.

I'm sorry, I've never seen a Sega console in my life :c

Split up the poll more.

when i play games such as tf2 or garrysmod i like to pull out the ol' atari 2600 controller

can't stand dualshock controllers. they're so light and small
360 controller with the little chatpad is perfect

Wii controller, I'm used to it the most.
