Simply, a small radar that shows the player's position relative to a map.

Method 1:
Slightly updatable.
The map would update based on where road bricks are ONLY. This might look ugly unless extensive coding is done because roads are used in many ways.
How ACM city would likely look in this method:

Method 2:
One large image is used that is not updated in game whatsoever.
Instead of generating the image, someone would simply put the map image in the .zip folder and it will show it. Although it wont update based on brick placement, it would allow people to make better looking maps. One pixel in the map would equal one stud ingame. (when at normal zoom level)
How ACM city would likely look in this method:

completely possible and a great idea

Someone get MARBLE MAN!

i just had a thought, in the game does it include the sidewalk as part of the road on the map?

Would this auto detect placement of bricks? Or would hosts have to specify the map?

An excellent question.  If it used some system for detecting builds like you see on blockland.us, then maybe the detection.

I just hope you'll be able to specify roads and houses since I never use road bricks.

it would be much harder to figure out if a building was considered a 'house' where as a road can be clearly understood just based off of it's datablock

making both the server and the client require an addon is always the most efficient way

Fixed.

method one - updates based on road bricks

method two - host puts map image in .zip add-on

i want one or the other to be made (i would like the bottom the most though)
