Why does the top of the Nuke cloud look like a snake?

the mushroom cloud stem is spawned through a piece of debris flying straight up with a fat smoke emitter, but this method looks really bad sometimes

it looks like you are you used the scale to make it twice the size. it only looks good when you use regular size, and even then you can still kind of see it for the first 5 seconds
it tried to fix it but then i got lazy

just dont scale the nuke to twice the size, keeo it normal sized and it doesnt look too bad
