We're going to change Dism's gameplay from a platformer perspective to a beat em up perspective. It will still stay a shooter, and I know of a way we can mix both genres.

to be honest as of now the fighting doesn't look fun to me, it appears to be more of a "wing it i guess" kind of fighting system, but good luck on that i hope this decision will lead to something better

This is why I always thought it should have been a beat em' up perspective - but we've never discussed actual platforming, so now we've decided to make it a full-on beat em' up. This week has mostly been devoted to the combat and "feel" of the game. Even though we have not reached our current goal yet, I hope we come out with something great, I have a lot of faith in Zay for the swift combat and the pixel artists for the swift animations.
but good luck on that i hope this decision will lead to something better

We basically have nothing yet, all we've been doing is experimenting with features.
I think we're going to do the first area soon, but we have no idea.
