Author Topic: Remove Gamemodes and Add Tutorial Button Back  (Read 1853 times)

The gamemodes are completely useless. The only ones that are any good are the Rampage and Tutorial ones. The tutorial obviously could be a button on the initial Blockland start screen, just like it used to be, and I'm sure you could think of some way to include Rampage in custom games. If you did that, we'd also have the option of making custom Rampage maps; but if you don't want that, you could easily prevent it. The biggest issue is the Tutorial though. No new player is gonna find it. I certainly haven't met one who did.

All I see is a line of "custom" on the master server so it's clear no one is using the system.

the gamemode system was a waste of time.

noone uses it because you can't easily enable add-ons which is a core feature of the game.

I love the gamemode system and use it for every gamechanging add-on I make.
Just because you don't use it why should it be removed?

Ok but what about the Tutorial button?

you probably never met a new player who used the tutorial gamemode because it's a gamemode for single player

the only real issue here is that people don't host gamemodes or have enough effort to turn their server into a gamemode

because there's no point in doing that

when you first start the game and you have your name Blockhead##### it should popup a little notification showing you where to change your name and then after changing it, you should be directed to the turtorial

because there's no point in doing that
yes there is

the entire point of gamemodes is to make it really easy to host complicated stuff

like Mafia Madness

plus then it's easier to sort servers by gamemode

Obviously I meant a player who found it on his/her own, in singleplayer... How long does it take to ask someone "Hey did you find the tutorial on your own?" Plus, I've had some people try Blockland and I had to show them where it was.

IIRC, some of the "Custom" gamemodes reported on the server list actually are specific gamemodes that RTB doesn't know how to report, so it returns "Custom."

nope.

People who say stuff like this are just small minded and unable to comprehend the benefits of such a system. They've been explained time and time again yet you guys can't wrap your head around it.

Remove gamemodes - No thanks.
Tutorial button - Yes please.

pretty much this. no one uses it to its full potential though, other than Pecon, who made the imscared gamemode.

we just need more coders, and that's exactly what the greenlight will bring in.
