Author Topic: So my motherboard fried.  (Read 2108 times)

And I need to wipe my drive. And it was a new motherboard too... Any suggestions for one in a 80-150$ price range?

Gah this is an epidemic. My motherboard sucked in too much reefer too... Newegg didn't even give me a discount -_-

first of all, what exactly happened

second, what is your cpu type? you need to buy a motherboard that can support the cpu you have. unless your cpu is fried too

Shoot, completely forgot. i3, LGA 1155. And uh, I think a power surge, static, or it just came dead. Other parts seem to be working.

so it just powers on but nothing shows up on the screen?

Essentially. Cant get past Splash screen without it restarting. Tried clearing CMOS and such but that never got me anywhere..

the windows splash screen? if you have windows 8 i heard that the newest update really forgeted up some peoples stuff and they couldn't boot properly
if its windows 7 then it could be anything

Win7. And I mean Motherboard splash screen.

yeah, looks more like a hardware error instead of software

anyways before suggesting for good motherboards i need to ask - what is your computer case size and do you plan on overclocking

Overclocking is a no. I have a locked CPU I believe.

And uh, ATX. BitFenix Merc Alpha. I don't mind mATX because I only need a few slots for my GTX 650 and a wireless card.

turns out a lot of the intel 1155 motherboards really dropped in price since the release of the newer lga 1150 socket
so you can get a intel mobo with a z77 chipset (supports ram, gpu and cpu overclocking) for just 10-20 bucks more than some h65 or something like that
so a good pick would be the ASRock Z77 Pro3 motherboard, cheap price of 90 dollars, along with good future upgrading and overclocking potential

Alright. I got an ASRock Z75 Pro3 last time though. Hopefully this might go better.

Well I got a new harddrive back around May or something, was already dying. Just got a new one, turns out it's also defective. Not as bad as the first, but they gve it 6 months to live right off the bat, and you can hear it... What the loving hell man, why are shipped computer parts always screwed up?

My first build has all the parts shipped and it came just fine. But nooo, I don't have the same luck I had.
