Author Topic: Apple announces iPad Air and iPad Mini with retina display  (Read 10180 times)

Apple is a company. A company is designed to make profits. They make products and market them in a way that works. It really isn't fair, then, to make accusations about Apple regarding the features of their products and frequent releases of new ones. The people who we should be worried about are those who blindly follow the company and buys every new product. Key word: blindly.

And no, not all Apple consumers (lol, pun) are mindless fanboys, but many are. If you're going to point fingers, at least point them at the right group. It's the customers themselves that cause Apple to market this way. They now have a strong consumer base, so they have the money and resources to release products so often. If they were a much smaller company, this would not be feasible, as the revenue coming in would not be worth the extra revenue and time spent towards developing a new product.

Apple caters to its customers (for the most part), and thus they are successful. Really, it is stupid to blame a person or entity for valid success.

I bet less than half of the people complaining about retina have actually seen it in person. Going from standard screens to retina is a huge and noticeable difference. Youre doubling pixel density while keeping the same screen size, giving everything an extremely clean and sharp look. I hardly ever see any square pixels unless I'm zooming in on pictures. Text scales as well, so you never see any aliased text.
This is also true. Yes, I know that there are non "retina display" monitors out there that may have the same resolution, but they aren't very common, and are very expensive. Many laptops don't come with such a display, so it's actually quite nice that Apple includes it. I like to remain unbiased when it comes to most things, especially computers, and I must say I have an appreciation for their "retina display" technology on any and all devices. You people are getting waaaaay too upset over a name. That's all it is. A name.

Please, if you're going to make an argument, back it up with reason and logic, and try to keep it unbiased. People will take you much more seriously of you do, and they may even begin to see it your way if you explain yourself well enough.

Apple is a company. A company is designed to make profits.

Thinking that the purpose of a company is to make a profit is like believing that the purpose of living is to eat.
i am ALMOST sure this applies in this situation

That's not it's only purpose; I'm sure it wasn't Steve Jobs idea to make as much money as possible when he started in his garage. But for large corporation, it is a very large factor in the business world. And there is one very solid point I can back it up with:

Without money, the business cannot keep employees, make products/provide services, make advancements, be a part of the economy, or even simply survive.

It may sound nice to say that large corporations aren't their because they want a lot of money (and there may be a few out there), but for the most part, money is simply what drives the machine.

Even after stating all this, though, I'd still like to say that I do like that brown townogy, because it does hold some truth. I should correct myself and say that a company relies quite a bit on its profits, and therefore maximizing those profits becomes a major goal.

Probably because when they started, the technology either was nonexistent or not ready to be used on such a small device? Keep in mind that Apple is basically the pioneer of personal tablets and smart phones; most other companies start making their versions after Apple. Has released their first one.

They had retina display in a phone, much smaller than the ipad mini.

My school wasted their money on macbooks instead of normal laptops.

and now they're begging for money because they can't afford enough

LOL

"why blockland didnt have shaders in the first place!!!!!!!"
because the technology wasn't available
i'm sure apple had the technology to implement one at that time

also if i didn't say i'm talking about the mini

The retina display isn't bad at all, I just disagree with Apple's sort of indirect "simplicity and beauty over functionality" philosophy.

They're putting their focus in making things look better, but on the inside, it's all still the same and advancing much slower than the outside appearance of their products.

um no?? the purpose of a company is to get money. if you think otherwise you are a naive little child

With each new generation of iFone and iPad they've made significant internal hardware changes so what do you mean?

So wait its a big iPhone right?

how much were they
They were probably Macbook Air's, which start at $1000 each.

Now dropping it will shatter the entire device instead of just the screen!
