probably because there's no other practical reason to learn japanese than to go and move there?
I mean with german it makes sense because germany has a huge industry business
and china has electronics and everything
and france has the girlies
but japanese is just so you can watch animu without reading it
and branching off that there's no practical reason to go to japan at all, if anything there's a lot of reasons not to

what if i want to go to japan some time in my life though
99% sure most modern countries today have english as a main course

there's nothing wrong with pointlessness?

there's nothing wrong with pointlessness?
its not entirely pointless
in fact it's pretty useful, in a way.

i dont recall chinese being pictoral,

does 花 look like a flower

does 猫 look like cat

i dont think so, there might be some but not a whole bunch

correct

some of them are pictoral, some of them are ideographic. for example, 人 is a person standing on two legs, and it means person. 大 is a person with their arms out attempting to look big. 看 is somebody putting a hand above their eye to shield from the sun. 口 is a mouth.

note that i'm going off of the chinese definitions, but they're definitely pictoral.

I hate weeaboos. I don't conisder myself a weeaboo, I'm actually Japanese for real, well almost. I will be when I live in Japan though. Right now I'm studying japanese, japanese history and I'm following Bushido, the way of the warrior. This is why I hate weeaboos that know 5 words in japanese and use them all the time, kawaai baka DESU NE MOTHERforgetER. I'm actually trying to become Japanese for real unlike all these faker wees. forget YOU WEEABOOS
following a hundreds of years old code seems pretty weaboo to me.

why do people automatically assume that anyone learning japanese is a weeaboo?
learning japanese is by no means pointless. it has a big enough population that translators are in demand, albeit not as much as other countries like germany

中国最好国!!日本很坏!

I have a practical reason I decided to begin learning Japanese. My school only offers English Sign Language, French, Spanish, and Japanese as language courses. I have no interest in flailing my arms around like an autist all day, and I absolutely despise Spanish and French. I've hated Spanish with a passion for as long as I can remember, in like 3rd grade we had a mandatory Spanish class and it was the first class I ever fell asleep in. French just sounds like a drunk person with a cold speaking Spanish. So, I decided to take Japanese via process of elimination. No weabooness involved.

i plan on learning it after japanese

totally. it also helps you improve your english by bringing your attention to grammar in different languages.

i think spanish is pretty useful, but there's probably not much demand for it because lots of english people already know spanish as well.

My dad lived in Japan after he got out of the Navy, and speaks it fluently. :o

I am using Memrise for Android to learn, it's actually quite useful. You should add it to the OP.

lentil is really good, its like duolingo but duolingo doesnt have japanese

im learning spanish because i live in california and there's gonna be more latinos than whitos in like 10 years

but i wouldn't mind learning japanese. i know a lot of words and i love japanese architecture.
