What are puns?

What do puns do?
Uses word play for comedic, literature, rhetoric, and design uses. Considered the lowest of jokes and proud of it. Stressed out and forced puns are stupid so forget about them and you'll have a great time here :)


Are their types of puns?
Absolutely:

A homographic pun exploits words which are spelled the same (homographs) but possess different meanings and sounds. Because of their nature, they rely on sight more than hearing, contrary to homophonic puns. They are also known as heteronymic puns.

Homonymic puns, another common type, arise from the exploitation of words which are both homographs and homophones.

A compound pun is a statement that contains two or more puns. Multi-pun motherforgeter!

A recursive pun is one in which the second aspect of a pun relies on the understanding of an element in the first.

Examples of puns:

Man, Badspot must have a bad spot for trolls!

Good 'ol KalpRiddler acting as usual.
