Author Topic: College - Is it worth it?  (Read 4225 times)

It's meant to be an argumentative topic, I understand how college works, and I've talked to a lot of my college-age friends about what it's like.

Yes I try to justify my point, just as all of you will/have too. However I don't try to make an ass out of myself while I do it, Devil.

I understand his point, but I still see things my way as he has not convinced me otherwise. Therefor I am wrong I suppose?

do you not know of how college works? have you yet to find out about the hidden SECRETS behind the institution? it's just a big scam. colleges pay companies to only hire people with degrees, making it so students are forced to invest a bunch of money into an education that doesn't come close to what you spend on it. all colleges are owned by maybe 2 or 3 large corporations, but they are each labeled differently so you think you get a better deal at some. in the end, the money goes to the same people. it's a genius scam

yeah it doesnt matter if they are as qualified as you, they still get the job. getting a nothing degree would still be worth it regardless of how bs you think it is

I'm being trained to replace the director.
and when he's gone in a few months, I will not be nice to these certification clowns.
I will require computer science degrees all around.

You should want to go to college in order to learn more about the field you want to go into.

Employers WANT you to go to college so you can learn more and not just attempt to fit square pipes into circular pipes because you don't know how to do your job.

A really smart person who went to a UC would look way better than a really smart person who just graduated out of a Blue Ribbon high school.
The main reason employers want a collage educated worked is it basically proves that you can show up on time and complete tasks, skulls needed to pass college.

I made this topic with MY opinions, fully expecting OTHER PEOPLE's opinions. Whether or not they make me believe college is useful or not is another thing altogether
However if you would like to re-write the OP and message me something that would make you happy, please do. I know you get grouchy over little things like that a lot.
I mean, you are the only member on this entire forum I ever have a problem with. Not that that means anything of course

Well, I want to be an architect, and architects make anywhere from 50k-110k a year, approximately, so that's not a small amount by any means, but not enough to become super rich from.
Engineers do a lot of what architects can do now.

I visited the local community college and Im guaranteed entry into UMASS Amherst upon completing and Associates degree. Which is nice. They also do internships which is another plus and it makes it easier to get a job.

Take some AP and IB courses in high school and save some of the cost and put yourself ahead when you go in.  Also, if there is an economic downturn, of course everyone will suffer a bit, but it won't be forever.
nah a lot of colleges make you pay for the credits you earn from ap courses, not 100% sure about ib but i can't imagine they'd be hugely different

how many do I need to kill to pass college

I live in ND, and last I checked they are the richest state in the US, mostly due to the oil boom though.

Last I checked, you don't have to pay for college in Australia
Was the last time you checked 1974?
