I thought day of enlistment was when I went down to meps and you know... enlisted. This paper sitting in front of me that says "enlistment document" and says "Enlistee:my name" also lead me to believe I'm enlisted.

I met like 7 guys during meps going Air Force all PJs. I was so confused it was a special forces job and was tough why was EVERYONE a PJ. My recruiter told me it is a ploy because no one wants to be something low level like a mechanic so they offer them PJs which sounds so awesome knowing 90% of them will fail and after they fail THEN they can stick them in a crappy mechanic job. Your job is a job people have to get tricked into doing.

Its not when you go to BMT is the day of enlistment unless the Army is different. Trust me I signed papers during the summer but my date of enlistment according to my MPF records is Nov 3 2009 which is the day I arrived at Lackland. Youll see a lot of papers like that but your enlistment is not until you arrive BMT. Also, make sure you keep every paper youre given throughout your career they do forget up often.

And if you must know I went Security Forces as my first pick in hopes of becoming OSI ignorant to how OSI works I thought that was easiest route I ended up Open Mechanical in basic then this job sorry but I love planes a lot and wanted this job ultimately so say what you want but I love what I do everyday theres more to it then you understand and its a since of pride. The rest of the Air Force or nonners as we call them in maintenance yeah they make the Air Force look bad but without maintainers theres no planes, without planes theres no base. We are the bluest you can get to being part of the Air Force because the original air corps was all planes no other jobs. Say whatever you need to feel better but I am happy with what I do daily.
