I want to make a large Medieval RP, and obviously the first step in doing such is making the terrain. I have no idea which style of terrain is most effective, and I know little about terraining in general. I have Conan's tutorial bookmarked, but I am still uncertain. I know that I do not want GSF terrain, as I need to use water for lakes in varying heights. The only kind of terrain I can really make is zonescape (I think that's what it's called. It's like cubescaping with zones), and while it does require little effort to make something detailed, it also is extremely spammy. The style should also be versatile, as I plan on having many different kinds of landscapes, such as mountains, swamps, plains, and deserts. It's not a necessity, but if the style did not have much of a learning curve, that would be nice. What are everyone's suggestions? Also, if any of you have free time, it'd be nice if you could shoot me a PM so we can work together.
TL;DR: I need ideas for a terrain style for a future build. It should:
- Be brick-count efficient.
- Look decent.
- Be versatile.
- Not be GSF.
- Optionally be easy to learn.
