why do you need to report all income?

Do you live in the US? It's federal law.

and why is it a law?
...okay that's pretty hard to answer sorry

day 3: tezuni's server shut down for tax fraud

Because that's how the government gets money?

Anyway, my point is that it's illegal for people to not report their donations and that it's very obvious if they don't report them since there's a huge paper trail via PayPal.

Tezuni also uses what donations he reaps to keep the server(s) running.  They pay his RTB hosting bills.
RTB hosting is 6 dollars a month lol. Even less per month of you pay for multiple months at once.

damn you government

  • Giving money free because you like something and want to help and support it is donating
  • Giving money for crappy in-game perks that break normal gameplay is buying

It shouldn't be called 'donate' on the website, it should be called 'buy perks'

Can I buy a Lamborghini and a mansion with donation money?

I'm in full support of server donations if it solely helps the host with hosting payments. Otherwise, I'm not really for it. It isn't a donation if you get perks in-game for your 'donation', it then becomes a premium purchase, instead of a traditional donation.

Yeah, when I bought it he said I paid for 2 more months of hosting.  He upped it from $5 probably because he wasn't making enough donations to run the server.  I kind of doubt he runs on nothing but donations though.

The reason I don't play minecraft multiplayer is because every single server makes it so if you "donate" you become invincible and can kill other players in one hit.

pay2wins

gotta love those

I setup my own Donation "system" this week.

I'm going to see how it goes.

Donations are a good way to have a community funded server hosted by quality provideres like RTB.

For those curious about taxes on paypal revenue - paypal has a page dedicated to that subject detailing when you need to report your earnings.

Greek is incorrect in his statement that any and all donations must be reported to the IRS.
