wasn't there that issue with having those assholic "buyable weapons" things that sparked a giant-ass argument

Buyable weapons have more or less died on out popular servers now, though the less-popular try to use it once in a while, even though it leads to crazy levels of difficulty for new players.

Buyable weapons is a no no. Have Classes also have AWARD weapons when you get a big amount a kills for whatever weapon.

I think it's fine as long as new players don't start out with a toy gun and a carrot to stick up someones ass.

Like you can buy differently functioning weapons that are balanced to eachother and the starters for variety

I've been running these battlefront servers for over a year now and I've come to decide that buyable weapons is the best option to choose. A bad example to use, but call of duty has buyable weapons, and they have THE most popular FPS console game ever.

The purpose of this thread is to inform the community of the project and possibly get more hands on board. The game system works perfectly and has been successful and enjoyable. Complaints about the current system are not appreciated.

what other options were there?

I've tried a mixture, fixed team inventory, optional inventory and unlockable weapons.

I feel unlockable items gives players a goal to work to, which makes the game more rewarding and holds more playability.
I personally would rather play a game where I have to unlock things instead of getting everything already unlocked at the start (for example, I felt totally ripped off by LFD2 as it comes with all missions unlocked)

The weapon system will not change to a class system however I may add in new blasters and such.

Agreed. I forgot to mention that servers that use pistols for starters are terribly outbalanced, but a mix of weapons allows for fairness.

I liked when a server used T+T and starting players had a pistol. It was fun to see people blame the pistol for them dying and not being able to buy other weapons.

Both teams will start with two weapons, a laser pistol and a blaster repeater for Endor.

how about you remake the games real maps, like mos eisley and the sand dunes

also in the game, you start out with regular weapons but once you start racking up a killstreak then they give you a supercharged weapon for like, 30 seconds.

Because their maps are badly planned, and this is blockland.
I know obviously its not the same game, its just based around the maps and the idea of capture points.

Update:
Pass has run into trouble with the trench mod as we are trying to update it and make it run smoother.
Any coder willing to give advice would be lovely <3
