Theory: Google used Google+ comments to hide Google Barges from the YouTube community's focus. I'll bet they plan to say they've moved large amounts of servers onto each barge, whereas they have moved all of YouTube's data. The barges will then "mysteriously" sink, whereas Google can go "Well, YouTube is gone, but we have the framework ready on Google+! Your Google+ accounts will totally work."

Serious talk: Well, weird time for them to reveal the purpose of these things... I don't trust Google.

What good will shutting down Youtube will do for Google

How is it a weird time for them to announce the purpose of it? Google changing their comment system isn't anything that hasn't happened before. They've been integrating Google+ and youtube for quite some time now. They just took one of the biggest steps recently.

Why cant google+ make like a google video and get the forget out of here

No no, they'd be sinking the data. AKA videos, statistics, OLD YouTube accounts. Imagine the possibilities of having barges they could sink to kill old YouTube. From there, they could claim control over YouTube's future directly, pushing changes continuously.

I'm bullstuffting a lot, yes, but it does seem weird Google is building barges with huge buildings on them, and they reveal information the same day YouTube gets forgeted by them... I wouldn't be surprised if they tried killing off old YouTube data so they would have an easier time integrating YouTube into Google+. Kill off everything incompatible/that they don't want, integrate what they do want. Eventually YouTube domain will redirect to plus.google.com/videos or something.

Yep, I know. Just that barge buildings are weird as hell, and Google doing it seems odd.

I miss Google Video slightly just because there was unique uploads on that which were killed when it went away. Not like I used it much, but the 1-5 times I did I'd rather be able to view again.

Why cant google+ make like a google video and get the forget out of here

Because Google Video lost to YouTube, so they bought YouTube. Then Google+ lost to Facebook, so they hope merging both will make it powerful enough to work both ways.

Yes. Yes it is. Sorry, it's just weird. I tried to look up more information on Google+ comments, specifically Google themselves making an official statement, and instead found reports of Google making some weird barge buildings.

Google is trying to control all the data for the NSA.

If you're being serious this is some of the stupidest stuff related to google I have ever read in my life.

Google would be one of the first companies I expect to do some weird stuff like build a floating data center. Too bad they're not even building a floating data center. They said it's going to be an interactive space. On top of this I really doubt that 2 barges are big enough to hold all of the data that is stored at the youtube datacenters.

Stop trying to write a narrative and say it's believable when most of what you're basing it on isn't true. Going "guys I just think it's weird" doesn't prove any points when everything else is being made up in your head.
