Author Topic: GOCE satellite is going to crash sometime soon  (Read 3544 times)

going to crash tomorrow apparently

and another piece of space junk is going to crash on my birthday!

It crashed in the Atlantic Ocean.

The cool thing about it is that they were still taking data from it while it was going down. Nice.

Wrong, it crashed into my face and I died (but I lived).

the truth is, it actually landed in my front yard and a blockhead came out of it

I wonder where it will crash, and wherever it does, would it probably cause a lot of damage?

No, most of it will burn up, and odds are that it will crash into the ocean (seriously that stuff makes up 3/4 of the Earth's surface).

Reported internet user Gojira died today when apparently a stray piece of super heat proof satellite burst through his roof and killed him instantly. More news at 9.

In an interview with his family, he popped put of nowhere saying, "Guys, I'm alive, the piece is right here. Guys?"

In close cooperation with NASA, ESA’s Space Debris Office confirms that atmospheric interface occurred at 01:16 CET (00h16 UTC) of monday, 11 november over the South Atlantic Ocean near the Falkland Islands, at an approximate altitude of 80 km.
Fragments reached Earth’s surface over the southernmost regions of the South Atlantic. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Next re-entry is predicted to be on November 15

Congrats to Frankie for now being a dumbest post of the year candidate.

Too bad more than 2/3 already burned up and disintegrated in mid air, the remaining smashed into the Atlantic Ocean at several thousand kilometers an hour which is equivalent to smashing against a thick concrete wall at the speed of sound. Yes I'm sure someone will find it and repair it.
