Yes there is, actually. If there were no "race" as you recall, I don't expect how people survived UV rays, lol. It's actually biologically significant because being black or white or yellow kinda has to do with who you mate with and where you live. It's not a social construct. It's not like mother nature came out of the ground and told everybody that people were different races. People are just people, races are a classification created by people for people.

I'd argue that race is no more a social construct than eye color. It is largely to do with who your ancestors mated with and where they lived. Since globalization, race has become a lot harder to pin down, because it's not as hard to move to meet people of different races.
