Author Topic: BL Music is randomly too large of a file  (Read 2100 times)

When i try to make small music, it ends up being a MB, I am doing all the steps right, Is there ANYONE out there who can fix this problem? The music also ends being like 600 bytes or something like that.

How long are the music loops and are you outputting it to an .ogg under decent compression? Like I can make an ogg music file that is 1 minute long with it being 700KB or lower depending on how much compression I use. Are you also outputting the files under mono? I use Audacity to convert my audio over to .ogg files, their default ogg compression setting is pretty good.

600 bytes? or 600 kilobytes.
there is a large difference.

not really, music files can be at max 1mb

Kilobytes are made up of bytes, like megabytes are made up of kilobytes. That is what he meant.

Aka he was talking about the size difference in files, not the max limit for music in Blockland.

basically, i try to make SMALL*really small* music and it ends up being a big file.

oh ok the music is is 25 seconds o_O

Lower the compression of the ogg music file then, you aren't compressing it enough.

No edit: I made a typo. It should make more sense now.

My file is now 192 KB. Is that good enough to post it on the forums?
Also one time i made one song more than 600 KB.

192KB is great, if the quality is really bad though, I would use a little bit less compression so it sounds decent.

Can you even use a song in Blockland over 1MB?

Can you even use a song in Blockland over 1MB?
Technically yes but only if you use client sided add-ons, which only you can hear. If you want it server wide, like most people do, then Blockland skips over the music file because there is a 1MB file limit for music.
