Author Topic: Wayfar 1444 (A Sci-Fi MOO)  (Read 7939 times)

I have settled at the Village of Armindale. You can find my little starter prefab house one tile north of the Sector Center. My hut is the 3.house. (I prefer 3.star for faster access.)

Edit: The SURVEY command examines the current tile and tells you the chance of finding various resources and wildlife on that tile. Not particularly interesting but it does occasionally grant you skillpoints (6 in total from the 3 previous exploration skills.)

Edit2: Personal favorites for various shorthands for tools:
cra - basic crafting tool
atm - an atmo trasher condense
ion - an ion-driven mineral collector
rea - a cheap orgi-reaper
str - a structure crafting tool
ene - a hand-held energy absorption unit

Some of these might no longer work when you progress further into the game and get all kinds of cool stuff.

Edit3: I made a material processor in the warehouse on residential district. Alcohol for everyone!

I forgot to say that my characters' name is MisterTee (she's female, despite the masculine name).

So instead of playing Skyrim today I accidentally played Wayfar for 9 hours. Well I got some scrap metal armor now and I killed a few... things. There's some creepy ass wildlife in this game.

Luckily the more extreme wildlife had their spawn rates reduced or are now only permitted to spawn in certain tiles, though I must mention that one of our next projects will be Bio-engineering which is outlined in this post on our development blog. I made a new post earlier today outlining the month's major developments that I can actually remember, most of the mundane changes are too numerous to memorise.

I don't know if you enabled something or it's just how the game works but I only met my first (enemy/animal) wildlife ~3 hours ago. I didn't meet any yesterday or earlier today. It's actually good that I didn't, I would not have been equipped to battle them.

Well damn. It gives (Security Error) when I'm trying to run it. Any ideas?

Probably because of flash. Use MUSHclient. It is amazing. I installed it today. It makes playing the game so much easier.

That generally suggests that your default gateway won't allow the communications the flash client needs, I get the same problem at college where security is pretty tight. Probably firewall related, MUSHclient generally provides more verbose (and less obscure) reasons for connection failure and in this case I'm thinking it's a timeout.

We have a sector center? Damn, I didn't know!
By the way, I should add you on steam so we can talk to eachother about the game, what's your steam ID?

What planet is everyone on?

I finally learned the unpaid cartographer skill, so now I'm just finding a bunch of junk everywhere!

There are/were plenty of dead civilians around. No idea why. At least I have their butts as memories.

Yo Feep. Add everyone's timezones next to their name so we have an idea when other people are playing. Mine is UTC+2. (In day-to-day life UTC = GMT.)

MUSHclient Quit Start Guide
Download: http://www.gammon.com.au/downloads/dlmushclient.htm

1. Connection > Quick Connect...
    Worldname: Whatever
    TCP/IP Address: wayfar1444.com
    Port Number: 7777
2. Game > Configure > MUD Name/IP address
3. Check "Save World Automatically On Close"
4. General > Connecting for automatic log in. "Connect:" is MUSH/MOO
(4.5. Appearance > Output for custom fonts)
5. Appearance > Output and check "Bold"
6. Type 200 into the box next to "Wrap output at column number:". Otherwise the planetary map is messed up.
(6.5. Input > Commands and check "Echo My Input In" and select a color your typed in commands will show in the game. Same place for input command fonts. Personal preference.)
7. Input > Keypad to customize numpad commands. (Note: Minimum command length is three characters.)

When you quit you're prompted to save the world file somewhere. When you want to play again open MUSHclient and open the world file.
