Double post: The Corvette is nearly done. I'm just building weapon bays for it and a few extra modules. Then we'll be able to fly to the station and pick up new players.
I do not think we should do that. Being dumped into wilderness and spending 1-3 hours real time wandering and surviving and searching guides, using HELP, and checking the command reference yourself is a pretty good tutorial and sets in the right mindset for playing the game.
Edit: Unpaid Cartographer skill is fairly useless without hacking abilities which take hundreds of skill points to get as it's a fairly advanced skill. You find tons of encrypted misc items with the DISCOVER command and while exploring too.
Edit2: I've made 5 botanical discoveries in the past 12 hours by exploring every now and then while doing other stuff like watching videos. I've probably idly explored for ~5 hours. I should have become a botanist instead of retiree.
Edit6: Six now. Tip: Diseases at the beginning of the game are not serious. They'll heal themselves eventually and are not life threatening.
