Author Topic: Should I get Rome: Total War, or Rome II: Total War?  (Read 935 times)

So far, the only Total War i've ever played was Empire Total War, and I saw a couple videos of Rome: Total War and Rome II, and both looked really fun, but one was $60 and the other was $10. Which should I get? Is one easier for beginners than the other?

rtw2 is rushed and dropped many mechanics from the first

rtw2 still requires loads of patches and bugfixes before it stops being vanilla civ5 stuff-tier

Are those both RTW2 on purpose?

yep

rtw1 is superior in every way except for graphical quality

^^^^ obv. has not played the most recent patch (which if you don't update you must not be even connected to the internet since it's done automatically)

most recent patch has me going at a solid 60 FPS on ultra settings with a 660ti and a Core i7 930 @ 3.2 GHz.  hardly no performance problems.  mods are a bit sketchy since the new patch may have broken most of them but they may be fixed now.

go for Rome II.  it's undeniably good.  even on older patches i was glued to the game.

It's kind of disgracefully for company to release a broken game. Definitely like that land based naval warfare.

unlike simcity, by patch 3-4 the game was pretty playable.  quit being roostersuckers.

Seriously guys :I

Rome total war II
It's awesome though everyone says the ai sucks (which I havn't encountered anything about it that sucks.)

i'm actually playing rome 2 right now

the game was broken as stuff on release but it's fine now. i'm having a ball playing it too.

I prefer the original in terms of gameplay.
