Author Topic: Password Problems  (Read 711 times)

So last Christmas I got a newer and faster laptop. My other computer kind of lay forgotten in my bedroom... until now. My Mom got the idea to give it to my Grandma, who has a really old desktop. This was fine, until I realized something. Last year my mom had the idea to make two accounts-- My own and Hers. Her account had administrator privileges, while mine couldn't even install a program without admin access (my Mom did away with this when I got my new computer). So, here I am, at my Aunt's house (Mom is at home), with no idea what the password is. I want to delete all my own information from the computer and allow her to access it without restrictions. I call my mom and she tries some passwords, none worked. I was wondering what we could do about it; It is a windows 7 toshiba.

if you don't have the boot disk you can still do it but it's a little tricky

Ask a bunch of forumers to blindly guess the password

Not sure if this works or not, but:
1. Boot in safe mode
2. Open up admin account (which shouldn't be passworded iirc)
3. Edit the user accounts to have no passwords
4. Restart

No, I have access to my user account, but I don't have the admin account password

I think he means it won't be passworded in Safe Mode.

use a konboot disc to boot up the system, it'll start you up with admin access and then you can remove the password for next time you reboot

Thanks for the helpful suggestions, but my Mom just remembered.
I will keep this topic open so people can post some helpful information for future readers.

I find it baffling how people forget passwords. If I used CCleaner on the family computer, everyone would be out of facebook forever.

Ever heard of password recovery? Unless they forget security questions/email passwords too.
