Author Topic: Datablock Compression Theory  (Read 689 times)

Now it seems that there's a problem with having large colorsets and there's a limit on how many add-ons can be enabled before some don't load.

I'm no expert on Torque-script or the torque engine, but can't you merge all the add-ons together to save on Datablock usage or something?
Can't one datablock have all the default bricks?

That's not how it works. A single addon has multiple datablocks. Say one has 3 and another has 4. If you merge them the new combined addon has 7. Still the same number of datablocks.

add-ons can reference datablocks from other add-ons. For example, tons of guns just use the default gun bullet.

A colorset will take 7 datablocks per color. Yep.

However, unless you enable every stuff you can find, you won't get to that 4096 datablocks.

Might wanna edit that again, I'm sure you wanted to say "Omg" if I'm not mistaken.

256 colors would be possible by just slightly modifying the engine. But no, not possible apparently!
