Don't trust anyone that say that they have a CD key for the game since it's most likely a scam. That's what I figured out from your post. The trader either didn't have the game or he wanted the keys and the game to himself.

you cant send a steam ticket. they dont help you with trades outside of steam, so you lost your 5 keys. all you can do is report him and file a report on steamrep.

That's not true. Steam support is really good about scamming, and in most cases they replace items for you. They can check trade logs and chat etc.

the steam trading system is fool proof.

It's happened to me before, and now I know after those scams which I've been through to never go first in deals like these again. It's just that risky.
