Marines has no benefits at all, and that's all I'm going to say. I have my preferences on armed service branches and you have yours. But when I go navy or air force, I'll get college tuition, additional pay, health-care benefits, etc
you get nothing.
and on the marine corps' website they even go as far to say they are PROUD to give you nothing.
But if you're okay with that and you're willing to give up four+ years of your life for band with minimal pay, go for it bro! Follow your dreams!
"Marine Corps healthcare coverage keeps all Marines in good health, so they can accomplish their mission and support their families. During Service: While serving in the Marine Corps, every Marine and his or her immediate family will receive a number of health benefits including free comprehensive medical insurance and competitively priced dental insurance. In addition, Marines may purchase life insurance at a minimal cost. Most bases have medical facilities available to active duty Marines and their immediate families. If there are no medical facilities available on base, Marines are referred to a civilian facility. After Service: If you remain in the Marine Corps through retirement, your medical benefits will extend throughout your lifetime and that of your spouse at reduced rates. You may also be entitled to receive prescription medicine benefits, as well as care in a Veteran Administration (VA) hospital"
" Marines with families have the option of living with their families on-base in Military Family Housing. Those who are authorized to live off base will be compensated with a monthly housing allowance. In addition, the Veterans Administration (VA) offers loans for purchasing a home, both during and after service."
" That's why the Marine Corps makes sure every Marine has the ability to pursue their educational objectives. During Service: As a Marine, up to 100 percent of your education expenses may be paid by the federal government through programs like Tuition Assistance, the Post 9-11 GI Bill and the Marine Corps College Fund. Select Marines may earn a degree through the College Degree Program, which has both a four- and two-year option. Both options cover the cost of tuition, fees, textbooks and uniforms at certain selected colleges and universities.
In addition, Marine Corps Officers have the opportunity to earn Master's Degrees and law degrees under the Advanced Degree Program, Special Education Program and Funded Law Program, all of which are partially funded by the Marine Corps."
