It's quite the vicious cycle. In order to make decent money, you need a degree. To get a degree you need to go college, which costs money to pay for all of your classes that you need for major plus the extra classes that you don't need because the school requires that you take just to receive your degree. Also employers are now requiring that you have work experience or job history, so you can't just get a degree and get hired as a computer programmer. You could get a loan, but those are just debt traps.
The only way to avoid the cycle is to apply for financial aid(which is a handout by the way so use it responsibly) or get a Pell grant.
