Author Topic: Fast food workers across the country rally for higher wages  (Read 9996 times)

get another job...?

it seems like the effort they're putting into organizing these things is greater than seeking a higher paying career.

Labour is a resource.
supply and demand refers to a product
jobs are paid based on difficulty/education required or health risks

not entirely how many positions are available

because then you go into the realms of communism

Labour is a resource.

if anyone can flip burgers (and they can) then the pool of available burger flippers is quite high. and an employer can pay as little as people are willing to accept.

people currently employed at a minimum wage job are the last people that have the right to complain. they get paid little, because they accepted it.

Right, what I said wasn't actually entirely relevant.  Whoops.

$15/hr is too high IMO

Something like $10 is nice I think. Most people I know who are working in fastfood are doing it because they are currently in highschool and just tucking the money aside.

See the problem I have with some of these workers is that they dont work hard. They want to be paid $15/hr at a fast food joint. They could be making more if they worked harder in school.

On the other hand I feel for those who honestly work hard but unfortunately this is the only job they can get right now.

They could eventually be making more if they worked harder in school, and luck out.

You have to understand that some people never had the chance to go to school. And now a minimum-wage job is their only option to live. I dare you to go to the supermarket and figure out how to plan your (and an imaginary family of three) meals for the next week with only $137.

then those people better not have children. better not use credit cards, mortgages, car financing they can't afford, and better start living in a studio apartment.

because if they don't, I don't see how they expect anyone else to be at fault or give a stuff.
you take on a bigger life then you can handle, its your responsibility

If by school do you mean Elementary through highschool? Or college? If people drop out of highschool then that is their fault.  Junior colleges are way cheaper than your average university, plus you can apply for financial aid from the feds for education.

I wouldnt start a family if I was only making $137 a week lol

And they do take responsibility for it, that's why they're alive today.

Would it hurt us so much to pay a bit more for our food so they don't have to have such a stuffty life?

we are already paying their food stamps, their housing assistance, their child care assistance, their hospital bills.
you think spending more on a burger is what is upsetting to us?

poor people are a plague. and its not about making less money. its because they make/made stuffloads of selfish and bad decisions throughout life. and they aren't even aware of how they burden the rest of us.

you raise minimum wage to 100 dollars across the country right now. I promise you the same people will be still to poor to live.
its never helped people in the past. the minimum wage bar was always just to keep up with inflation.

Also, some of these people are poor because they go buy 50" TVs and smartphones and brand new cars that they can't afford. Keep in mind that I said some, because not everyone is stupid enough to do that.

Don't even get me started.

I want to punch a wall every time I see hundreds taken out of my paycheck.

How about promoting safe love and only having as many kids you can afford? Also zero population growth(having no more than two kids per household).
