itt people blame youtube because they don't want to blame the companies actually at fault

you can't really even blame the companies. they're doing what corporations do.

blame copyright law, perpetuated by lobbying

aka if you want youtube to thrive, push for lobby reform

nope, still blame the companies. copyright laws are only really enforced if the holders have a problem with what someone is doing. blaming copyright law only lets you be mad about what our government lets them do

I want to start a short film channel, a bit confused on where should I go.

wowe

even though you used to be able to acknowledge it was copyrighted and then those companies get the ad-revenue, apparently you cant now.

there goes 12/16 videos

So basicly, all video gaming channels that DONT play stuff like minecraft are forgeted now?
Minecraft is made by the Mojang company.
It's revenue is in the billions.
It's not an indie game.

Minecraft started out as an indie game. Just because it became successful doesn't make it a triple A title. If it was compared with other AAA games with its aesthetics and gameplay mechanics it would be deemed as the worst game ever.

And anyway, Notch approves people pirating his game so i doubt its going to be a big deal for him if people promote his game through lets plays and gameplay.

You realize "indie" means independant, right?
Mojang is a billion dollar publisher.
Even Notch admits it's no longer indie. (and this about two years ago)

No i didn't know that, i thought that indie stood for "independent". The game started out as indie and even if isn't one anymore, the main point has been stated. Notch wouldn't care about people uploading lets plays or music from the game.

Not as bad as TPP. Which will make it so that we can get fined if we're SUSPECTED of copyright. So you could get in trouble for basically anything on the internet and if you even POST a video where you hold a bottle of bleach talking about your laundry you could be fined or have your account shutdown.

no, in general, as long as you're not making money off of whatever, you'll be fine. be glad that the fair use laws in the US are as broad as they are. but in all honesty, what is a gameplay video? it's just you playing someone else's game. they made it. if they don't want you to make money off of it, how is that unfair to you?

It goes farther than gameplay videos.

yeah, that was just an example. if you made a christmas card, and someone bought it, started making copies, and selling them, wouldn't you be upset?
