If we're expecting many new members, we should have another section

every other forum I've ever been to has a section for introducing yourself. this is the only one I can recall visiting that doesn't. and it's definitely the only one I've used that tends to look down on it. so I just wanted to put that out there, that maybe we'd need one

maybe you could try an "I'm new!" megathread

i've seen that in the past

just a thread filled with i'm new posts
no topics
get's the job done

unless there's an issue with it

like no one other than new people will read it

which is dumb and weird
nobody new would know that anyway, and if many of them have ever used another forum, some would certainly make a topic saying hello. whether or not there's a section for it. which is why there should be. because 1. who wants a bunch of topics just flopping about and 2. it should have been there from the beginning because people need to introduce themselves

yeah. introduction threads in a dedicated section generally get several replies, more depending on how big the community is, as opposed to the one, or two if you're lucky, responses you'd get in that one big thread for it
