Rust or Dayz?

I want to get one of these games for christmas but I'm having trouble deciding on which one. I know Garry Newman is a developer for Rust, but I also know dayz was first, is now a standalone game, but much older and more complicated. I'm planning to play one of the two with my friend and I who are also making a new youtube channel together (you guys will probably hear about that later).

Which one is better guys?
