Author Topic: I'm getting Wargame: EE & AL  (Read 1500 times)

Challengers have stuff ROF otherwise they'd be great.

Tube artillery really comes down to choosing between barrage or precision. For barrage arty, Abbots or gvozdiks are the best. For precision, Malkas, Pions, M110s are superior. If you want something that can do barrage AND precision, Mortars are always a safe bet, although they do lack the range of other artillery choices. Rockets are for instastunning an entire town so you can move up and attack. Buratinos are stuff and should never be used ever. I personally like the M109A6 Paladin for NATO, and for PACT I believe I use the NONA-SVK.

In the current meta-game barely anyone ever uses medium tube artillery (M109s , Gvozdika , etc.). For some reason it's mostly either mortars or the huge ass supply-heavy 203mm guns. Also rocket artillery is (sadly) pretty much useless - it may stun absoloutly everything in a decent radius but it doesn't do any damage and it costs a crap-ton of supplies to fire them.

I'm going to have to try the 203mm's. I usually have arty fire to try to inflict damage, and logistics doesn't seem to be much of a problem for me.

On smoke, where is it supposed to be placed? Right on top of the enemy or somewhere in between you and the enemy?

Usually used in towns so garrisoned infantry can't see that far.

Depends on the situation but it should always land between you and your enemy.
For example: if you want to cover your retreat so you don't get shot in the back by ATGMs you need to pop the smoke close to your units. However if you want to attack your enemy's position you will need to aim closer to your enemy so you can deny their defensive advantage and force them into close combat.

I have not yet had the unfortunate pleasure of having to capture at town. I would prefer to bomb it clean rather than waste what little infantry I have being a armor-centered force. I know tanks are generally better than infantry, it's just that I haven't found the best way to go about assaulting a town.

Light Tanks

Sheridan: best HE
Scorpion: longest range gun for a light tank
AMX-13: Cheapest tank, cheapest missile tank
M41 Bulldog: Good operational range
M24 Chaffee: joke tank, old, cool snow camo
M8 AGS: Best NATO light tank
PT-75: Cheap and amphibious
PT-90: Has a missile
BMP-685: Fastest of the pact lights, has the most operational range of the pact lights.

Medium Tanks

  • Old Stuff
M48 Patton: Starts off with a short ranged gun, gets a better gun that can take on some of the low tier and low mid-tier tanks. Has a larger operational range than the Centurion, but has less AP, armor and fewer variants per country.
Centurion: Okay-ish gun, better armor than the M48 Patton, smaller operational range the M48 Patton, more expensive than the M48's. Has more variants.
T-34: Cheap as hell, funny to spam, weak and outdated, probably won't reach it's target, good fodder for the enemy to waste it's missiles on
T-55: All variants of equal, cheap missile tank, spamable

  • Modern Mediums
M60 Patton: All rounder, not perfect or terrible
Starship: Patton, shoots missiles and heat shells, has an autocannon. Good for spamming against stronger tanks.
Super M60: Beats the Leopard 1A4 in Armor, most expensive nato medium, equal to best chieftain.
Chieftain: Lots of armor, large caliber gun, hardest hitting nato medium, good at defending, slow
AMX-30: Light, weak armor, long range guns, most likely one to surrender
German Leopard 1: Good cross country, unreasonably strong armor, some german variants outclassed by foreign variants. Germany has the most variants.
Danish Leopard 1: Equal to German Leopard1A4
Canadian Leopard 1: Has +1 more armor and AP than the Danish and German Leopard 1s
Norwegian Leopard 1: Has the most AP,  cheap, has cool snow camo, less armor
Swedish S-Tank: No turret, laughing stock, decent medium, terrible fuel efficieny, some what pricey.

T-62: Historically stuffty, numerous, can support T-55's, Czech variant is good, better off with T-72s.

Main Battle Tanks

M1 Abrams: Jet powered freedom on tracks. General use tank, works best with Bradleys, cheapest of the practical MBT's.
Challenger: Mobile Bunker, most expensive MBT, slow movement and rate of fire.
Leopard 2: Youtube's most overrated western tank, over engineered, well balanced tank.
AMX-32/40:  Lightest armor, cheaper than leopard 2 and Challenger, has autocannons.
MBT-70: budget MBT, weaker compared to more modern MBT's, good for it's time, shoots missiles, has autocannon
KPZ-70: german variant of MBT-70, has an autocannon, 120mm gun, no missiles, more expensive, has a good stabilizer
T-64: Ahead of it's time, low profile, shoots missiles, stronger than it's brother the T-72.
T-72: Cheapest of the Pact MBT's, spammable, suffers from Iraq syndrome
T-80: Deadliest and scariest of the Pact tanks, best everything. Evolved from the T-64.

I'll have to look in to switching to Abrams. I thought the leopard was supposed to have a good gun and pretty good armor.

I prefer armor and firepower over speed.

in the campaign barrage arty is nice, since you can bring four fobs

East Germany has a very nice AT plane with 30 AP last time i checked

Challenger 1 Mk.2 has the same frontal armor as the Leoprd 2A4, however the Challenger has better side and rear armor. Chieftain is the be most armored medium, so you might want to take that, however it is slow and consumes a ton of fuel. The M1A1 is cheaper than the Challenger and Leopard 2 . The M1A1 has 19 AP like the Leopard 2 and Challenger, but has less frontal armor.
