Which controller to buy?

I need a controller to play my steam games on. I'd really like a dualshock 4, but I've heard there are some compatibility issues with pc.
Xbox one controller is not as cool, but will do. I don't want to buy previous gen controllers.

So which one should I buy? I'm fine with using controller emulators or other programs, as long as it's not too much work.

what's wrong with the previous gen. controllers?

they're cheap now
you know they'll work because they have been out for some time now
plus they have a ton of different colors and stuff

I don't like how mushy the triggers are >:c
the ps4 ones are bouncy and i prefer those, but i think i like the ps2 controller the most out of those because it's just a flat out button

them being actual triggers is nice though because it means it's not just on/off and games can respond to how far down it's pressed
