Author Topic: Who thinks vehicle physics will be updated?  (Read 1742 times)

I was just wondering if anyone is thinking the same thing. Sorry if this was asked out of the blue.  :cookieMonster:

Probably not any time soon.

Sorry if this was asked out of the blue
lol, that's funny because the first post of every topic always has a blue background

It was said that it was going to be done, I believe.

But that doesn't mean that I think that it will actually happen.

ha. i get the out of the blue thing. cos the forum is blue themed.

Why the hell did we get into this conversation?  :cookieMonster:

Isn't the bad collision detection native to the Torque Engine?
Like, if Badspot wants to update the physics he has to recode Blockland in an entirely different engine.

Badspot knows the vehicle physics are bad, they were bad from the start.
If it was possible to fix them, I think he would have already done so, prior to adding esthetic shadows.
At least he would have improved them when he was coding the speedkart gamemode.

I ram into somebody while racing and suddenly I'm in Earth's low orbit.

I feel if it ever does, you should be allowed to change between the crazy physics we have now and the updated physics.

No, he wouldn't have to switch to a different engine. It is possible to fix them, it's just that it would take some coding and it isn't at the top of the list of things to do right now. The Speedkart Gamemode wasn't originally coded by Badspot, so it's not like he thought "I should fix the physics for this - nah, forget them."

You're seriously misinformed.

also related to "networking issues", i hope badspot increases packet size or whatever, i hate how i get weird delay/effect lag on action packed large servers.

I think it will be eventually, but it would be hard for a lot of Blockland's code to be completely rewritten.

I'm fine with vehicle physics how they are atm
