Author Topic: Opinions on RP servers using certain mods  (Read 2772 times)

I have always disliked RP chat and RP sounds. I feel they really ruin servers when used.
RP chat just gets abused with names, I don't think there is a chat system that is currently being used which actually works.
RP sounds suck, they feel really out of place, and even though the default sounds aren't perfect, they're better than the RP sounds.
(As I don't use these two mods, I don't know what they're called and cannot find links, help with that would be nice)

I think there is potential for a quality RP chat system, somewhat like WoW's chat system.
I also think there is potential for some realistic player sounds to be made which actually fit blockland perfectly.

I want to gather your opinions, in the poll and replies to this thread

I'm not sure what you mean by roleplay sounds, but a chat depends on what type of roleplay you're trying to create. Assuming you intend semi-serious, usually a simple local+ooc chat works best. I'm not sure about WoW, but MMO's I play usually go for a similar system.

I just dont like that ooc mod.. I'd prefer just to use no chat mod and maybe a /whisper mod.

I personally couldn't imagine a roleplay functioning well without both local and OOC, but, whatever floats your boat man. You seem fairly stubborn in this.

using the medieval chat filter is hilarious and really adds to the flavor of the game, not a fan of that whacky ooc / ic chat mod, but local chat mod is good for adding some distance between player communication, making for a share of fun experiences

Red Block Redemption isn't medieval. Filters are both terrible roleplay wise, yet alone unfitting for the purpose (once again, assuming this is all based on his server)

I'm not being stubborn, I have experience with the chat mod and I have came to the conclusion that I do not like it and will never use the current version. You stating your opinion will not change mine, so I don't know why you're calling me "stubborn"
Also, I have made roleplays which have worked well without it.

This topic isn't based on SPO's Red Block Redemption.. I just want to get the general opinion of Sound and chat mods.

I like rp chat people make it either there normal user name, something ridiculous, or an actual rp name. Either way there having fun.

If trying to convince you to open your views wont work, and you have already come to the conclusion that you will never use a roleplay chat, then you're literally stubborn. No question about it.

I'm also just stating my opinion on chat filters. They're disruptive and over-controlling to the roleplay and don't allow people to speak as they will.  My bad for assuming outside of the intended purpose though.

That's like saying to a host "Why don't you want the /rape mod on your server?!" and calling them stubborn when they don't want it in their life rp.

They're not stubborn if they keep an open mind to any ideas. You can dismiss an idea, as long as you're open to understanding another persons idea. I also believe you're using a bit of a dramatic example over a mod designed to fit the purpose.

Hey, let's use a mod based on an extreme crime in real life that is socially stigmatized as parts of my point!

Why not use any car mod for your argument instead of something extreme that's condemned in real life and, as far as I am aware, even somewhat within this very community?

besides Furdle what do you care about others' opinions?

besides Furdle what do you care about others' opinions?

Both the fact that he asked for other peoples opinions and the fact that I have experience in role-playing? Furdle's final conclusion does not effect me in any way, I am just stating an opinion and making a point to try and expand his options.
