"Lancer, loitering." The radio comes back static. Blackwater had either been shot down or there was too much traffic.

I get up and assess the situation, pacing back and forth, the defensive and offensive weapons officers glaring at me.

"Blackwater?" I wait a few seconds, "Blackwater, this is Mayhem." Static can be heard. "forget."

I do what Lars says, and head for the beach head. "CS Falcon, why did you stop artillery fire?" I look at the devastated beach head, but people are still pouring onto the beach.

"This is Walter, we have enemy helicopters launching... *static* onto... *static* kill those Nerverak fighters. Clear the beach, sending last of ordinance. All planes in the air... sailing for the beach."

My sad sigh was in synchronization with Danna, "forget." I get enraged, turning upside down and allowing Danna multiple infantry kills, as well as some light transport vehicles. I turn around for a run, when I spot a truck that holds SAM's and a large truck carrying an AA Turret. I load 3 of my hydra rockets into the AA Turret, making it blow up. I then use my cannon is take out the SAM trucks, a large amount of infantry, and multiple heavy vehicles.

I'm still terrified that I might die and depressed that my family is dead. I start thinking, "what if it was the bomber that I shot down that killed them?" I make the thought go away, but I can't shake the feeling that that's what happened.

I run out onto the tarmac, panting.  Oh shoot, this is the Cartelian air field...

With most of the air units down, tons of ground units appear on radar. They are not stopping to capture the base.

"They're just gonna demolish it. Clay, could you get us an ETA from Blackwater on that base evac?"

"Tempest, anchor at your current position and await further instruction," Blackwater instructed.

I was about forty or fifty miles away from the base. I throttled down and loitered, and watched the night sky above. The contrails of the transports lined the sky above, heading east. I watched my radar as the bombers came over the shoreline and carpeted everything in front of their forces. It was almost like a creeping barrage in a way. The transports were approaching the shore, perhaps to assemble an advanced force deeper inland.

I watched helplessly in my lonely section of sky.

"They're just gonna demolish it. Clay, could you get us an ETA from Blackwater on that base evac?"
"our coms are down."

I look on as people are evac-ing the Cartelian base.  It looks like they are expecting the worst (rightly so).  I draw my pistol and do my best to hide in the nearest convinient spot.

203 ... 136 ... 67 ... 0.

I fire my second and last AMRAAM at the remaining bomber in the flight. The missile slams directly into the side of the aircraft, permanently putting it out of commission. It droops lazily out of altitude, releasing little black specks that would normally be invisible against the night sky weren't my vision aided by the bright fire spilling out of the fuselage.

I decide to keep the last two Sidewinders and make a run for it.

"Swordsman, egressing east."
"Swordsm              water, turn to heading 0-8-6 an            eed to re    "
"... Blackwater, status!"

Static. Pursing my lips, I make a steep turn and fix my aircraft to the heading. I look over my shoulder and watch as Nerverak forces continue to press towards the airbase.

... so is nerverak closer to emmeria or what?

I continue to do sweeps of the area, demolishing light vehicles, heavy vehicles, and infantry all together. "forget, forget, forget." I also allow Danna some shots with her turret.

"Blackwater, Tempest here, what's the status of the evacuation?"

"E...act... N...y... cent.... plet..."

Holy stuff that's a lot of static.

"Blackwater, I can't understand a word your saying,"

"Rep... at... Temp... t..."

"I can't loving understand you Blackwater, someone must be jamming us," I say loudly and sternly.

"EC.. mm.. R... sto... commu...,"

"It shou- be b-tter now," Blackwater reports.

"So, the evacuation?" I inquire.

"Ni-ety percent,"

I discovered that if an AMRAAM becomes too heavily jammed to track normally, it will then switch homing methods and target a radiation source.

"Blackwater, please get us more airstrikes, or artillery fire, is it that hard to ask the other wings of the Carelian armed forces to help us?!"
